With 3 solid rounds of 76, 80 & 80 on the challenging Katherine layout he finished 1 shot ahead of a fast finishing Brett Gilmore who for the third year in a row had to be satisfied with being the bridesmaid of the Country Championships after narrowly missing his Eagle putt on the last hole to miss a play off against Jordan.  In the nett event Gilmore claimed a 9 shot victory from Darwin junior Andrew Wilson.

In the men’s B Grade Humpty Doo junior Matthew Hawke claimed the gross winner’s prize with a total of 225 as he finished 6 shots in front of Duane Casey.  In the B Grade nett event Hawke claimed victory by 1 shot from Stuart Waters.

In the men’s C Grade Humpty Doo golfer Dave Flanagan claimed first place with a total of 276 to finish 1 shot ahead of local favourite Pops Hughes.  In the C Grade nett event another Humpty Doo junior, Tim Schmidt with a total of 210 claimed victory from local golfer Garry Richardson.

In the Ladies A Grade Championship event Alice Springs’ Helen Neave claimed a comfortable victory from Palmerston's Kathy Neeley. All was not lost for Kathy as she was able to secure the Ladies A Grade nett event from RAAF Darwin's Rebecca Adams.

In the ladies B Grade Palmerston’s Agnese Rinaldi claimed victory from Liz Nicholls while Nicholls turned the tables in the nett event to claim a comfortable victory from Rinaldi.

Division 2 Pennants

This competition was played at various locations from the 17th of November 2007 to the 9th of February 2008.

The RAAF 1 pennants team enjoyed a feast of succulent Pig as they got the better of the Pink Pigs (Darwin 1) in the Golf NT pennants grand final 4 – 2.

Darwin got off to a flyer as both of their A Grade players made short work of their RAAF opponents.  RAAF C Grader Peter Hall put in the performance of the day with an 8-6 victory over his Darwin opposition.   With the score at 2-1 in the clubhouse in favour of Darwin the next two matches were decided on the 18th hole with the home ground advantage proving crucial to RAAF’s chances.

This left the match at 3-2 in favour of the RAAFies with the final match decided on the 21st hole as Dion Fewquandie sealed the win for RAAF with a regulation par.

Thanks to all for another great competition. See you next year!

Pennants Winners:  Chris Brogan, Peter Hall, Mick O’Brien, Nick Etherton ©, Jim Francis & Dion Fewquandie.
