2011-2012 Women's Golf NT Pennant Competition
Congratulations to the RAAF team, winners of the grand final of the 2011 – 2012 GolfNT Women’s Pennant competition. RAAF team members for the final were Lorna Brew, Rebecca Adams (Captain), Janine Williams, Ursula Moller, Rosemary Campbell and Sandra McKenzie.
RAAF and Palmerston won through to the final with wins over Humpty Doo and Darwin at Palmerston Golf Club on 21 January 2012. The final, held at Darwin Golf Club on Saturday 28 January 2012, hit off after a short rain delay, and was hard fought to the final pair. One extra hole was required to split the teams, with the final score being RAAF 4 matches to Palmerston 2.
The younger members of the Palmerston team played well throughout the competition, and showed they will be strong contributors to women’s golf in the NT for years to come. Team members for the final were Chantelle Shaw, Agnese Rinaldi, Lorraine Bellinger, Tia Clohesy, Lee-Maree Clohesy and Diane Connelly.
Humpty Doo and Darwin played off for third and fourth positions on Saturday. Darwin recorded its first win for the competition (5.5 matches to 0.5), over a valiant Humpty Doo team which had missed out on a finals place by the narrowest of countbacks the preceding week. Both teams can take confidence for the next Pennants competition from strong individual performances this time.
The Darwin team for the playoff final was Di Howard, Cheryl Hughes, Chris Ritchie, Judy Major, Helen Langlands and Liz Madden, with Captain Jenni Chaplin.
The Humpty Doo team was Val Moon, Christine Wakefield (Captain), Lesley Maidens, Cheryl McCullough, Ricci McLoughlin and Robyn Kruger.
Planning will commence soon for the 2012 – 2013 GolfNT Women’s Golf Pennant Competition. All enquiries should be directed to GolfNT, or Board Member Vicki Stokes through email vicki.b.stokes@bigpond.com .

Junior Interstate Series
From April the 11th to the 21st, the Territory team participated in the Australian Boys Amateur and the Interstate Series contested in Sydney at the Carnarvon and Cabramatta Golf Clubs. Unfortunately no boys met the required cut for the amateur event with the best player Andrew Wilson missing the cut by only four strokes. The team however re-grouped for the Interstate Series with Anthony Quayle from Gove proving to be a formidable opponent winning a number of matches and also being named Player of the Series by the NT Team. Well done Anthony! Michael Henderson from Alice Springs participated in every round and was named the Player of the Team by the NT Team for his demeanour and sportsmanship shown on the field. Both boys will be receiving a pair of shoes each from Titleist. A special mention is also extended to Troy Parmenter who at the age of 12 was our youngest team member and who also won his first match play on the last day of the event by going one-up. Results and full details can be found at the Golf Australia site.
